Lexmark Enters Agreement to Acquire California-Based Kofax for $1 Billion

Lexmark will acquire Kofax, a California-based customer information software company, for $1 billion, it announced Wednesday.

Kofax, with more than 20,000 customers worldwide, had revenue of $297 million in 2014, according to a Lexmark news release stated.

The acquisition is the latest Lexmark purchase since 2010, when the Lexington-based company became more focused on providing end-to-end business solutions rather than just printers.

Kofax, founded in 1985, markets processes that allow customers to capture, manage, access and act on information.

Lexmark Announces Rebranding, Unveils New Logo

A new logo and brand that emphasizes Lexmark's continued evolution into a business information services powerhouse will be unveiled Tuesday.

The company's Perceptive Software division will switch to the Lexmark name, although its products will remain under the Perceptive banner. The move brings all of Lexmark's recent worldwide acquisitions of business information and software companies under the company's name.

HP and KBA to Transform Corrugated Packaging Printing With 110-inch-wide Color Inkjet Web Press

WASHINGTON D.C., March 4, 2015 — HP and KBA today announced plans to develop the HP T1000 Simplex Color Inkjet Web Press, a high speed, high volume, 110-inch -wide (2.8 meter) web press for pre-printing of corrugated top liner. This will enable corrugators to combine many individual jobs together on a roll or across rolls for short, mid or long runs. Unlike traditional analog pre-print, every box can be different.

HP Owns Over 60% of Business Inkjet Revenues

HP has boasted the strongest year-on-year growth in the business inkjet segment ahead of Epson, taking 60 percent of the market revenue in 2014. The company’s revenues grew by 16 per cent, compared to its rival, which only saw a four per cent increase and a market share of 16 percent.

Overall imaging revenue increased by one per cent across Western European distribution throughout 2014, driven by multi-function laser and inkjet technology printers, according to data from IT market research company, Context.
